Cherrypie, no one has chosen, Microsoft chose it for us and usually buy competitors. Have you not seen Microsoft attack various Linux groups and try to a) buy them b) if a fails destroy them but now they've just given up because there are too many to go after. Steam relatively has been known for it's ease of use and so forth, the additional crap PC players generally don't care about came with time. The system works, even when it was prehistoric.

Systems move themselves, not games, it's usually closely followed by price and not independent movers such as games. Look at the Wii, people don't buy one for the games. If such was the case Halo would be the top selling game this gen, but it's not, FAR FAR FAR from it. Ironically Wii has the top selling game this gen.
