I still see 2 problems 1st how many console devs are making games for it, and second it is an apple product, and a newer version at that. Ps3 and the 360 are at $299, the cheapest ipad is what $400 or $600 for the higher end 1, yeah we are all going to give up 40 inch+ tvs for a 8-12 inch screen lol.
Yeah a flash storage device would be better, likely not to fail as often as optical drives ect anything with moving parts. But it has to be able to be mass produced cheaply and practical/convinent, so flash storage is a not an option this upcoming gen.

And as for shooters with a gamepad, thats equally unrealistic, take big fps shooter fan thats never handled a gun before give them a gun and watch their accuracy drop like a stones.

Since it required ps2 hardware physically in the ps3 obviously it cost sony something, i think was about 40 or $50 for the chip. No dumbass, sony took it out to reduce the cost to manufacture the ps3 at the beginning, when they were selling them for a $200+ loss per console sold.
Bc was important at launch when the ps3 had few games and most of them weren't that great till about a year or so into the ps3's life span, that hasn't been the case in a long while.

Yeah maybe for nintendo, but third parties will not support a brand new sony or ms console anytime soon.
Nor do i believe neither sony or ms intend on trying to bring out a new console for a minimum of 3 yrs, maybe 4 or 5 for sony. Maybe late 2013-early 2014 for ms and sony but anytime before that is pushing it.

This has been said numerous times already, but i'll repeat it again if you want to be able to upgrade your console, get a pc and leave it at that. The primary reason i got away from pc gaming is not have to upgrade components every 2-3 yrs, if i wanted to have the newest hardware or best graphics ect, i would still be a gaming on a pc and not a console.
What wrpgs, dragon age, sacred 2, and oblivion are the only real wrpgs i've played, i've put almost 300 hrs into fallout its a shooter with alot of rpg elements thrown in, boarderlands is basically the same.
