Glad I cancelled my pre-order after finding out there's no SH4.
Good job I have the originals, personally I found almost all of the new voice work to be unbearable, Eddie and Maria's voices don't fir the characters at all.
I was going to pre-order that as I'm a huge fan (I'm in MGS2).
But I couldn't justify the money as when I looked the only thing I didn't have was the art cards. Like you I also hate steelbooks.
I took the extra cash and bought the Uncharted 3 Explorer Edition, I still like MGS more (fav series), but it shows just how much of an impact Uncharted has made on me this gen.
That's not Desmond, that's my friend Stevie Fisher.
That's some scary shit. I am a new resident of uncanny valley.
Edit: Argh! the bearded Desmond looks like a non ginger version of another of my mates. I fear Assassin's Creed may have just been ruined for me!
Witcher games are fantastic.
Online components aren't always necessary, neither is a constantly connected machine. Connecting is fine when it's elective.
I remember the day I turned off friend notifications, MGS4 arrived, I loaded it, bing 'x has signed in'. I quit the game, turned off notifications and went back in to the game.
No one disturbs Metal Gear ;)
my sentiments exactly.
My friends ask me what games I've been playing, I tell them, they ask what they're like, I tell them; they say the games sound awesome and they'd like to play them.
I see them again in a few weeks, they've only played COD.
"We are not all mindless online players who just want to shoot things"
ahhh, a fellow story lover. I do hope we're not a dying breed.
"I belong to a smaller third group, I enjoyed the game(enough to finish it three times), but wish there was a better storyline."
I'm a member too then. I'm on my 4th playthrough, I go back to it between games.
insults and a link to metacritic (reviews, like opinions, are subjective, are we not allowed our own as you are yours?). Two sure fire ways to get your point across in a reasoned manner.
Oh and by the way, we said it was average, 5 out of 10 is considered average by all those who realise that a system that considers 7 average is inherently flawed.
fair enough mate, at least we agree it was average ;)
But it'll be interesting to see what happens in reviews, as Peter has effectively made his excuses already.
yeah, for some reason they hid them under the my channels section. You then had to download shortcuts to place on the XMB. Was weird, but probably to do with wiping and having one XMB for all regions that then used locality to work out which apps to offer through the new section.
@Baka-akaB
where did i comment that Lair was something special?
Personally I found it average, something alluded to in my post stating "Not saying Lair was the best game ever".
What I was merely doing here was drawing comparisons between two pieces of tech implementation and how they were perceived.
"Dragons are not real and Lair was not a Dragon Simulator so why the need for clunky controls?"
Firstly, I never said the controls were clunky, I had no problem with them, they just required a little finesse. You're right, Lair wasn't a dragon simulator, but the dragon had a rider. What kind of leg muscles would he need if the dragon could turn like a fart in the wind? (This was added for some light heartedness, I know of the existence of harnesses)>
yet people moaned like hell when a dragon didn't turn like an F-18 in Lair...
Not saying Lair was the best game ever, but it certainly was understandable that the dragon had a turning circle.
it's a good looking game to be sure, but that doesn't look like the same quality I've been playing.
Ultimately it won't matter, only to massive fans of PC gaming (of which I am not, I simply bought it before any console announcement). However, it's not 'on par', and if they do a PS3 version then that won't be either.
The wisest man I know once said:
"There were rumours that there was a rumour, but that was just bullshit."
Trailer watched, Vita... pre-ordered.
True, but I prefer Shopto's approach; pre-pay if you wish.
Holding on for a PSBlog announcement to see if it is exclusive I think.
Personally for me (Paid £425) I have had every shiny pennies worth of value from my system. I can appreciate that others will not feel the same way however.
My machine has replaced my DVD player, become my blu-ray player, replaced my CD player, become my media server and streaming hub, become my IPTV viewer, as well as my primary games console.
NOt everyone will use all the features I do, but no complaints from me.
Edit: SO the disagree...
DarkCharizard, what the hell are you on about?
Ah, I see now, didn't open the post marked as trolling first :P
You don't have to justify it to me Thom, I also have mulitple copies. I own MGS1 about 5 times (wore out a disc once, plus DL), VR Missions, MGS2 about 3 times (including Substance), Snake eater 3 times (Original, American Subsistence and EU)and the special edition of MGS4.
I have Ac!d twice (NTSC and EU), Ac!d 2, portable ops and plus, and Peace Walker.
I bought a GC for Twin Snakes (Which I didn't like). I even own Ghost Babel and I don't have a...
