What is the difference between shooting "fake targets outlining the shape of a human" as shown with target practice on the range, as opposed to a shooter like COD? Is it the animation of the target with some added detail that makes it different?
I just see similarities between both. Are there differences? Of course, but if the NRA wants to single out violent video games, then it should come as no surprise that someone questions their involvement with video games tha...
I am always amazed at the level of passion and creativity the SOCOM fanbase has maintained for the past decade.
I agree and disagree at the same time...

I wonder what Sony thinks about all this regarding SOCOM?
What was once a flagship exclusive has turned into a shelved franchise. They didn't acknowledge the 10 year anniversary of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs even though it launched the PSN for the PS2 with the network adapter in 2002. Rumors from higher ups state that there are no immediately plans for another title. The whole Bin Laden raid transpired right when the franchise drifted away from a Navy SEAL focus. The longtime...
@Autodidactdystopia
Really? Sony will just "patch it up"? Are you sure?
The SOCOM franchise has been hacked ruthlessly for over 7 years straight. It started on the PS2, and it has carried over to the PS3 for several years now. It has completely destroyed the competitive community that has played it for over a decade. Some of us have been waiting a long time for Sony to "fix" it to no avail.

@HammadTheOne
Just to clarify, the prize for winning The Tester was a QA contract. He worked his way up to the PR department afterwards, and PlayStation could have let him go once the QA gig was completed.
But I do somewhat agree with you on the public rant after his termination. I am a fan of Will, but I would have found a more constructive approach to sharing my concerns if I were him. The packaging on the delivery of his points came across sort of bitter....
Is that just your personal opinion? Or are you stating that from an industry-wide kind of stance? The first 3 SOCOMs had some impressive online numbers...
And to the guy below me about worldwide sales, the original SOCOM came close to 1M (800,000) and hit half a million on the sequel in the UK. Not staggering by any means, but not horrible either for a niche exclusive if you ask me. http://www.vgchart...
We have seen so many attempts at rebooting the series with major revamps. Although most of the fanbase wants a true sequel, we have our doubts if it could be developed properly without losing focus on what SOCOM really is. The "safest bet" is an HD remake rooted in the first two titles. We all know that was successful, and plenty of fans want to see it happen. Although we could possibly get some updated textures & graphics, the number one thing we would be paying for is security...
Just as the article states, SOCOM 2 HD is the MOST requested game on the entire PlayStation.Blog.Share. Other franchises with half the votes have already been remade. If Sony views that site as an important source of their gaming demographic's needs & desires, then what are they waiting for?
"The only easy day was yesterday."
If all you have played are the PS3 versions of SOCOM, then you haven't truly experienced it.
So are your trolling techniques...
Title changed.
I would also like to add that modern shooters in general are all starting to use the SAME cookie-cutter template of features. I miss the old school days when franchises knew their identity, and didn't try to copy COD, Uncharted, and any other titles out there that have had solid sales this generation.
In the case of the SOCOM franchise, coders/hackers/cheaters terrorized the PS2 versions because the PS2 hardware wasn't sophisticated enough to stop it. Millions of SOCOM fans want a "cheat free" server that has security in place to block mod discs and the manipulation of coding. An "HD Remake" would provide that for us. We've had two PS3 SOCOMs launch recently that were a total overhaul of the serious, and completed alienated the long time fans of the franchise. A...
There are some people out there that appreciated SOCOM 4 as a decent TPS. But most SOCOM fans would agree that it wasn't a true SOCOM. In my opinion, if it had a different name on the box, it would have been better off. But contorting a longstanding, and successful franchise into something it was never meant to be was quite the stumbling block for the longtime fanbase.
Because the "source" is anonymous. Therefore, it technically needs to be listed in the "rumor" categories on this website. If a name was provided, it could be listed as news. If you have ANY doubts about this letter, goto the forum link at the bottom of the article. "Mr. Anonymous" answers several questions the TRS members asked, and his responses are filled with details that only someone behind the scenes at Zipper would know.

SOCOM: Confrontation has one of the hardest plats I've ever seen. Considering it is all multiplayer, and one match can be anywhere from 15-30 minutes, it makes the checklist extremely difficult. That is of course if you earn it legitimately.
Another difficult plat is Fight Night Round 4. Several trophies require you to climb into the top 5 in online rankings for each weight division. Unless you earned them the first couple of weeks the game came out, good luck getting all...
