The award better go to Geow2 because it truly pushed visual boundaries and went deep on the story side. MGS4 was also a great title but Gears just did more in my opinion and really delivered on in all areas not only one.
Get off the it's innovative crap already. Yes it's a easy to use tool when it come's to level design but it is in no way as epic or great as you make it out to be when you actually sit there and ply it. The truth hurts and the only thing that will be changing next year is it's title from the year of PS3 (which it wasn't again for the 3rd time)to once again the year of 360.MS already announced it's plans for 2009 and I suspect there biggest year yet is upon us.
And who says that LBP is fun for everybody? I played the game and it's boring and old already to be honest. It's basically the same stuff done over and over again which is why it doesn't deserve game of the year. GEOW2 is an all around treat and should get game of the year over any of the titles mentioned above which it will.
Demand changes all of the time as in the case of this holiday season. Next year might just be the year were 360 makes a clean sweep with all the momentum is having now.
PS3 was winning during the slow season for crying out loud and actually lost a couple of months in there to 360 before september. Just get over your bad frustrated morning and deal with the fact that 360 gaining more and more momentum. This year is going to belong to 360 in both hardware and software just like next if Sony doesn't do something major.

What's getting me is all the hype from WKC when 360 has a much bigger better looking title StarOcean on the way. I just have a feeling WKC won't be that big compared to SO and think this could end up being another LBP story. Plus pretty much everybody that can afford a PS3 has one and with the 360's cheaper price tag I can see the Japanese finally picking it up.
The Lazy one is right and uncharted also had many areas that didn't look so hot so get off it's nutts. Gears2 look years ahead so please stop bringing that game up like it's the best thing this gen visually on consoles. The crown belongs to Gears so get over it.

I quit after my 3rd ps1 and never went back to until the PS2 and then quit after the 1st. No problems yet with my 360 launch console which I guess is lucky.
199.99 doesn't sound that attractive right now to many even though it might look that way to you. The way things have been lately a price tag of 150.00 would be much more attractive. I'm willing to bet next year 360 really starts to take off when the economy hopefully starts to get back into full swing.
I understand were in a recession but find it quite odd for all of these company's to be laying off people before Obama takes office. There's something else going on here that might be forcing company's to have no other choice. These are sad times for many families and hopefully this turns around very soon.
