Does this game have real gameplay, or is it just an interactive movie ? Because if it's the latter, it would have been way better if they just made a real movie instead.
Are people putting such a high score on ME just because they were awed at the movie sequences and the storytelling, or because of the lame gameplay?

The PC has been the the building block of RPG. Video games RPG started on the PC because at the time, PC's weren't powerful enough to display graphics, even as lame as the NES 8 Bit.
Fallout was born on PC, and you're saying PC World never tried Fallout? Don't make me laugh. Tim Cain did a great job on it, but the sequels really lost its touch.

FPS is the trend these days because every developpers are jumping on the bandwagon. Easy when the Unreal engine is so widespread. It doesn't mean the public wants fps, it's just what the game developpers are offering.
But why not make platformers? They're fun to play, and a good evasion from all those ultra violent gore fps games we see nowadays. Life requires balance ;)

Considering that kids become parents quite easily these days, you can deduce that:
- these kids were stupid
- stupid kids who suddenly become parents also become stupid parents.

SoF:P has a lot of gory action, that much is true.
The difference is that Manhunt 2 shows a lot of inhumane action: torturing people, killing people in a very distasteful manner and actually getting points for it, sickening action.
It is a different kind of violence, a violence that is very difficult to watch (for normal people), even less take part of.
