both ps3 and 360 are technically maxed out...
or else uncharted 2 would have been 1080p with 8x anti alising, if naughty dog( who are genius programmers btw) had rendered the game to these specs on ps3 it would have been an unplayable 10 frame per second mess.
so yes they are maxed out 100% most definately...have we seen the best looking game an artist can produce...hell no....
with more dynamic enviroments, better lighting tricks, more...

While both consoles are technically maxed out and have been since day one in terms of inability to render complex games in 1080p with 8x anti aliasing, this does not mean the designers and artist cannot get creative and make even more beautiful games than uncharted 2.
When speaking in terms of sheer polygon count, texture size, anti alising and AA filtering...yes...they are totally maxed!

the black and white "stealth" indicator was horrible...ruined it for me... i got it free from a friend to try on pc and while it looked pretty good, i thought the gameplay was AWFUL!

PC gaming is ALWAYS next gen.... consoles are sweet for the first year or two...then, besides a few diamonds in the rough....the shovelware cometh....the endless dlc, the flash games heralded as the greatest thing on earth that should be free but cost ten dollars...
don't get me wrong, the second the ps4 drops...day one....same with the xbox720...though i have my doubts if MS will even make another console, i sold my 360 after 2 weeks of reach...my ps3 has been a bluray...
i got splinter cell conviction free and still only played an hour....the black and white when in stealth was so fu@kin lame i could not complete it....for me, the last great splinter cell was Chaos Theory, on PC of course....lots of areas look better than SC C!
