Hey Kane! I'm the reviewer from the article -- glad you noticed my small dig at LBP.
LBP was one of my first PS3 games, and while I love and respect the title for it's level-creation abilities and interesting level design, I feel the actual platforming mechanics aren't as "up-to-snuff" as classic games or more recent titles (New Super Mario Bros. U/Rayman Legends/etc.).
Of course, game mechanics and controls are always a matter of prefer...
It seems like an interesting mix -- if I had the money I might pick it up.

I'm the reviewer and had a really great time with it -- 5.8 doesn't reflect the same way it would on IGN because we try to utilize the whole scale instead of 7+.

Not a giant fan of the list -- I totally disagree with the author twice over. My guess is that the author doesn't have a ton of experience playing RPGs.
That said, it is all personal opinion.
Why attack someone's personal preference when you could make it a dynamic conversation by putting your top five and why you think it is better?

I agree -- the alpha blew me away. I wasn't really considering purchasing the game close to launch. Now it is my most anticipated Fall game

Doctor Jones, I'm said reviewer -- the "week" was more like 9 days, but it sill turned out to about 10+ hours a day.
And there was a ton of time I wasn't the one playing it! I focus tested the game with new-comers to gaming, Nintendo fans, classic Mario Kart junkies.
Such was the benefit of no work at the moment and all the free time at my disposal.
I love the art style to this game -- I know its just blocks, but they managed to make it look great still.
