You don't understand the Japanese market. That's ok. The biggest game for the PS3, MGS4, only sold about 500k.
The PS3 also has an install base of about 2 million. So, selling 1 million with any game is nearly impossible.
Good sales for LBP in Japan.

ToV is a JRPG. Very big difference and not comparable to LBP.
JRPG games have always been very successful for the 360 in Japan, even going back to Blue Dragon.
LBp is considered a success in it's own right because of its uniqueness.
These sales are quite good. 30k in only a day. Other games outside of JRPG's don't sell 30k in a day. Given the type of game LBP is, I expect it to have very strong legs, and to top out 60- 85k once the week is through.
Please also keep in mind that LBP is a new ip, is not a sequel, or a JRPG and it still manages to sell 30k in a day. Great job Sony and MM.
Most western games are lucky to crack 100k, in Japan. LBP looks to exceed those numbers and more.
