Probably really unlikely since they'll just talk about sales forecasts and such, the mos they would say to the investors is, "we have new technology that we are going to be showcasing soon, so stay in touch."
Man I can just imagine it. My friend on the other side of the country with his headset on his PS3, and me on my NGP with the microphone playing online in perfect harmony. I press the home button and see all my friends in tact! Cross-Play is golden sony, do it!!!
What's gonna be weird is that NGP's most likely gonna have an integrated PSN with the PS3, while also haveing cross game chat(most likely). So then sony will have to get out x game chat for ps3 if ngp has it. Anyway cross play is the greatest thing ever!!! E3 2011 ROLL ON!!!!
I think they're just trying to keep the atmosphere of the original game alive by improving the graphics but still keeping largely the same art style.
It's not really releasing close together, it's pretty much releasing a little less than 2 years after the 3DS release.
edit: and it probably won't even be a worldwide release, so america and europe will probably get it even later exceeding 2 years.

The weird thing is that Iwata said that 3D screens get messed up by scratches, fingerprints, and smudges. Maybe LG's using an updated version of the parallax barrier.

I'm so hyped for e3 this year. I can't wait any longer for mario 3ds reveal and ngp full reveal. Gonna be amazing, plus there's a possibility of a next gen console announcement, but that'd just be icing on the cake!
Yea, I'm really anticipating E3, because of the info blowout. I bet it's gonna pan out like this. We see a trailer for a brand new ip for ps3, but find out that it's actually for the ngp because it looks that good! Either way I'm hoping for a price announcement so I can order it off amazon with no tax.

Guess what? This time even some of 3DS's games are like the ones you describe for the original psp. The great thing about both handhelds is that they have "meaty" experiences, while also leaving things like ps suite and 3DS store for the more "short burst" game you're talking about.
