Look at pokemon. Biggest Nintendo franchise and Let's Go had worse first week than FFXV (which was considered bomba), DQXI (PS4 version) and MHW (PS4 version).
Switch is also portable which is very important in Japan, and is also 100 bucks cheaper than PS4 was.

Yep, Switch is a shadow of DS, 3DS, Wii and GBA sales in Japan.
Switch in it's second year barely up compared to 2017 when it was supply constrained.
After first 22 months Switch is behind Wii, 3DS, DS and GBA in Japan.
Including digital, MHW is best selling game for 2018.

I expect that PS4 reaches 100 million in June, so that would be 5 years and 7 months, faster than PS1, PS2 and Wii.
