Sounds like a Devil May Cry prequel when you spell it that way. If only!
I think they're trying to say it's not going to be a bad revival of an old system, but that analogy is way off.
The big reason why the 32X got no support from either developers or buyers was because gamers knew the new systems were on their way. Everyone knew there was going to be a Sega Saturn by the time the 32X was announced; it seemed silly to buy in - why not just save the cash for the next system?
Of course, we all know how that went - ...
That was a great reminder. I can't wait for El Shaddai - it looks amazing, like the spiritual successor to Okami. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
That's awesome. I love how EA's fighting back on this one with actual citable evidence, as opposed to Kotick throwing rhetoric without substance around just to please some shareholders. Jeff Brown did an awesome job here.
Yeah, but this blog-post quality article isn't news. It's regurgitating the facts. That's all well and good, but this getting approved over the duplicated HP story isn't.
But my opinion on this thing - sure, you'll need an actual handheld to play most of the best games, but Cave sure did a lot of good for the shmup in general by releasing EspGaluda II and DoDonPachi Resurrection on the iPad/iPhone. They're the exception to the casual gaming rule, bu...
Uh, yes it was. Keep reading.
That shouldn't even be funny. Microsoft and Sony are both in it for the profit, just as much as any other for-profit company out there. If they weren't looking for money, they'd be a non-profit organization. Simple.
That's what I've thought about that too. It's definitely a tacked on type of 3D, not a game born from the whole idea of making 3D awesome, but at least it's just a tacked-on bonus in a much bigger game. I'm much more interested in playing GT5 for the sake of playing an awesome game than playing a 3D game for the sake of playing a 3D game. Plus, who am I kidding? I can't afford one of those ridiculously priced 3D TV's.
@Redempteur - Word. That's how I felt about Heavenly Sword. It was like The Tick for the SNES, except the multicolored ninjas were in 3D this time. The combat, the gameplay - what really matters in a game - was just sluggish and inferior to what came before it. I loved how it showed off some graphical possibilities on my early-on PS3, but it didn't show off much else.
@Baka - Careful. Some of those company crossovers you're talking about actually sound real...
The article is pretty much just a forum post against the other forum posters who aren't happy with the way Dante looks. Not much substance here.
What I don't like about the whole new DmC thing is that Ninja Theory is doing it. Ninja Theory hasn't proven to anyone that they're capable of making a game run smoothly, and if you're doing an action game in the same vein as the old DmC, it had better run smoothly. Like, constant 60FPS smoothly.

I know that you can't include everything on these lists, so they'll miss stuff, but this is definitely a good one.
Black gets not nearly enough attention these days - that was a great looking last-gen game! Also loved the inclusion of ZOE2. How I long for a third title in that series... They also got Okami, SotC, the FF's, yeah. Definitely a good list.
Wow. I just got an incoming quote from The Weather: "We're still interested in further iterations of A Rain Storm." This just in from Ryu: "I'm not done with saying Hadouken. Don't rule it out in my next appearance."
I mean, Duh. With a capital D. If something sells so well over and over again, a company will continue to make it. That product is called a Cash Cow in your typical run-of-the-mill management theory textbook - don't cha...
Matter of preference, Nicky. First off, who decides GOTY for you? One outlet? Every outlet? Is it a number thing, or is it your own choice?
A lot of the reviewers that initially gushed over ME2 later showed some disdain of the more tedious sections in their podcasts.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 still has one of the best metascores of the year, but it didn't do much to innovate, and that often factors in depending on the outlet that gives the award.
They don't know what a lot of vocab words are, but that doesn't mean they don't understand the difference. When I was a youngster, I had no clue why some polygonal games ran more smoothly than others.
Then, of all games, Battle Arena Toshinden 3 showed me the light. You could toggle an option that dumbed down the graphics in order for it to work at 60FPS - otherwise it was 30. When I did that, it hit me - so that's why these games move differently!
Cool. Thanks for the input, that makes a ton of sense! I guess an alternative would be hardware companies getting their butts in gear and starting on those new consoles, so we could support better motion blur with hardware instead of just compromises.
I also wouldn't categorize a constant 30fps game as having a "bad" framerate, but it works for some games and doesn't for others - 60 doesn't always work either. Cinematic 30fps games just remind me m...
I'm a stickler for framerate in certain types of games, especially those that really need precision when a lot is going on - arcade racing games do well at 60, great combo-based action games (DMC3, Bayonetta when it's working), platformers with a ton of enemies/stuff going on (Ratchet series). I also like the more cartoony games running at that speed - it's a bit like having smooth animation in an animated series. Joe Danger works really well with this. Also, shmups can do very...
Thanks for the tip, Jack - now I can't wait to check it out!
...not that I have a Japanese account or anything. Yeah.
From playing the demo, I found that Enslaved looked awfully familiar. Good voice acting. Very good matching of the voice acting to facial movements and expressions. Great cinematic moments. Much like Heavenly Sword.
Also like Heavenly Sword, it would make a great movie, but it doesn't make a great game, and since it's a game, it's not great. I absolutely hate action games with a janky, choppy framerate, and Ninja Theory is 2 for 2 in that awful category. T...
I think it would be awesome, and I think Rocksteady Studios would be the perfect company to take it on, fresh off of Arkham City.
I'm not interested in much on this list other than the GOW Ghost of Sparta demo, but I hope the Castlevania demo (posted as rumored) does hit the US store. I've read some of the earlier reviews, and the game's starting to look like it's worthy of the franchise and not another Castlevania 64 (although, embarassingly enough, I did like that game as a teenager, especially the Legacy of Darkness upgrade!).
