I don't think they sat down and went, hmmmm we should get splatoon 2 working first. I'm sure as they are working on it, they test different games to see the results, and this one happened to boot up. It isn't even playable yet!

This is true. The N64 made me get out of gaming for a while because of their drought of games in the first 3 or so years. Then the dreamcast came out and I made the jump to that instead.
