Except for the whole backwards compatibility thing...W7 products run fine in W8.
It seems the graphic drivers for linux are finally being taken seriously by Nvidia/AMD. Not to take anything away from Valve though and all their hard work... Good to see!
While you're right, I don't think it takes away from the notion that PC is as competitive as other platforms for EA.
Long live Jesse! Howard is a b!tch!
Flamebait title, not even the original title. Reading the article, Notch throws a big "if" out there.
Someone has never heard of steam...
STALKER was loaded with bugs, but still incredibly fun, a perfect match for Bethesda.
I had more with Daggerfall
You're absolutely right, they do not have to use the marketplace, they can go on an exist within the W8 ecosystem very much like W7.
I am not sure why people, including these VG journalists, think that W8 is becoming a closed system. If MS tried that, it would be the biggest antitrust suit vs. MS yet.
Oh man, hope I get a beta key.

This is even worse, http://store.steampowered.c...
Check the price on all the DLC lol, puts EA to shame.
You are thinking of Windows RT, which is different than Windows 8.
It will still be possible release "uncertified" programs (apps) on W8, however they will not be publishable through the Windows Marketplace, nor receive a Windows Certification Stamp(whoopdie doo). Steam will be unaffected by Windows 8, it's not "illegal"...the author needs to do some research before publishing FUD.
@NeoTribe
I think he was referring to mandatory installs and updates, something consoles were free from for years. Try not to be such a douche next time.
2017?
Awesome!
Yea I actually like it, everyone says how it takes more time to do the same thing in W8, when it is actually the opposite from my experience. I love the right click start menu, so many options in there to get quick access. Window's search is actually useful now as well.
I think when more people give it a shot they will realize it is a better OS overall.
"The second most popular resolution is 1366x768, at 18% of Steam computers."
Well, mystery solved, a bunch of laptop users with integrated graphics are also on Steam. There's still a lot of stuff on Steam accesible to them too.
"The money they make off the RMAH is just surplus to them, therefore they have no obligation to release new content like they do in WoW.
Since they make $1 off each transaction, wouldn't more players mean more transactions? I think they are doing everything they can at the moment to sustain a player base to make money off the RMAH, a large amount of people are leaving as there's nothign to do but farm...(myself included, it was fun yes, but it's time to mov...
"Dark Souls PC uses the very same 1024x720 internal framebuffer as the console versions, regardless of which resolution has been set in the menus"
Sounds like the worst port possible...
