Why wouldn't they pay for the final game ? Because they can download it all the same ?
Come on, God of War did not invent anything. It's a great game but nothing we hadn't seen before in other games. Including the PS2 Casltevania games. Which were shit, I agree, but stop screaming "God of War" whenever you see a 3D character action game with fixed camera.

first of all you are fu***** nitpickers. Just look at this game ! How far we've come since the first Deus Ex. It looks freaking amazing !
Second of all, it's an E3 demo of game still in pre-alpha, which was not meant to be shown to the public. Of course it's gonna have some rough edges.

One of the dude from Kojima Productions said in a recent podcast that they don't even know what the story of Rising will be. While I think they do have a pretty good idea of what it's going to be about, this shows that they're not very far in the development.
Hayter also said in that podcast that he's usualy contacted a few weeks before starting recording voice overs.
That said if Rising takes place between MGS2 and MGS4, Snake can't be in it.
