Sony started development even before Oculus. They even had non-VR headsets on the market for years already.
It's possible they will release a UHD disc ready PS4Pro later down the line when anyone really cares for the medium but I kind of doubt it. It's not a system seller atm and people prefer streaming anyway.
I can see the PS5 feature a UHD drive though for sure....and be it just for the increased space for increasingly huge games.
