This skin as network has been known for years... at least 8-10 years from what I remember reading that long ago.
So what they are doing is making it possible for a load of people to hold hands as some kind of VLAN with a ISP at one end and an xbox one at the other so that people can 'check in' to be able to play their games from non internet connected areas.

That is a suggestion for the offline problem. Get a PS4 and XBOX ONE and run the PS4 through the X1 HDMI IN.
Unless you need XBL GOLD + INTERNET + ACTIVATION + PREMIUM RATE TELEPHONE CALL to enable use of the HDMI port.

Well I cannot speak for the PS4 controller however I can explain the extra XBOX ONE controller purchases.
It is to replace the one you throw at the wall when the game wont work any longer because your internet has been off for 25 hrs and the sudden realization you bought a dud, even though everyone warned you well in advance.
Firstly is that a XBOX display screen (being faked) or some windows xbox demo screen (real). It will make or break the story I guess.
More importantly I want to know this:
How many XBOX 360 sold in world? 68million?
How many XBL subscribers in the world? 35 million?
So what will happen to the 50% (almost I know) that will NOT buy the xbox one?
