Maybe I'm alone here, but I am much more excited about what else the console does than the gaming portion. If Microsoft comes up with a plausible alternative to cable TV and this system has enough capacity to be a full fledged DVR, I will jump on board right away. Cable companies have HORRIBLE interfaces on their set top boxes and I'm sick of paying for a hundred channels I dont care about just because Comcast/DirecTV says I have to.

Both consoles are going to be pretty much on par hardware wise, since they both have the same profit margins to play with. That is also why consoles are never any powerhouses matching the current PC lineup, since they then would cost you 2-3 times more and would sell less (while still having the same slim margins, making none of the companies richer).
The difference will mainly be through the software and attached services, not hardware. Accessories like Kinect 2 is something...
I feel Microsoft and Sony are making a grave error by omitting 4k support output - as prices of display panels are always going down I expect every other family to be able to pick up a big 4k TV for about 1.8K in 2 years or less. Hence they will take a big hit because of this or have to release a revised version of the XBOX and PS4 which does support 4k.
With fibre infrastructure rapidly rolling out in developed nations I expect 4k video streaming services to be widely avail...
I think MS has waited this long for a reason. Sony announced the PS4, but it was so early and so little info was announced that the hype died out for it among most people other then the hardcore fanboys. Waiting 4-5 months for more info at E3 is ridiculous.
Microsoft on the other hand will announce, get a bunch of hype going, THEN a few weeks later we have E3 and a bunch of more fancy info is released multiplying the hype. Microsoft isn't stupid and their Quarterly report...

Alan Wake 2 and Lost Odessey 2 are the games that I am most looking forward to...this will make the 720 a day one buy for me if they are launch games.
