Almost all of their marketing agreements and exclusive deals are with microsoft. I can't even think of the last time they gave sony the marketing rights.
First off, its an insider that's giving the information. One that hasn't been the most reliable.

Rightfully so in my opinion. Battlefield 4, once fixed, is one of the better tactical FPS out there. Hardline kind of feels like a hybrid between COD and battlefield.
