This is a really unexpected move of Sony! They must have discovered something huge in this update since theyre going for such extreme actions.. Usually They just throw out an X.X1 update, so im kinda wondering why theyre removing the whole deal. Maybe its got something to do with the hacking earlier?
Broken my ass.. Sony have been giving everything they promised earlier, they even said in the 2.40 video that in game music access depends on the game, and thus, sony is NOT responsible.

I hope they also add trophy's.. This is one game i wouldnt mind replaying a couple times.. Besides, us PS3 owners need something for getting all the collectible weapons/gold, lol..
I dont have any problems.. It's downloaded 20% in the last 5 minutes, so im very satisfied with the connection

I really don't wanna ruin this for you mate, but if youre talking about the trophy's, then your out of luck.. They only showed motorstorm as part of the "In-Game-XMB" preview.
Hmm, my dutch may not be the best.. But im pretty sure the guy posting #8 on the site is saying:

Ough, GTA IV.. thats just one game i'll never complete 100%, and because of the new trophy's i have to play through it again...
They could add a program in the PSP with access to Sony's server, so you could use your psp to check trophy's, Gamerlvl and profile.. That would be a nice feature

Its the exact same with me, gaming Battlefield: Bad Company.. When the demo came out i played it because the game itself was really fun, i had my favorite class and played like 5 hours each day... Now ive got the full version, all i can think about is the damn trophies you can unlock in this game, and i wont rest until i have "just one more trophy".. I choose classes i don't like playing with so i can get them, only use grenades in a whole round just so i could g...

Look at their trophy list:
Burnout Paradise, Heavenly Sword, Resistance: Fall of Man, Rachet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
Those games weren't on the official trophy compatibility list as far as i can remember... :P
I'm going to become a trophy whore, thats 100% positive... I don't know why, but in my 360 gaming days, i found out that there is some psychological effect, creating an urge for getting achievements/points. I still havent quite found out how it works, but its extremely addictive.
Not all people who game have this addiction, but those that do, have a drug-like need for unlocking these achievements while gaming.. Even if its going to cost them in some other way.
I really hope it gets implemented in GTA IV, RFOM, burnout and Battefield: Bad Company
360 have always been owned in terms of firmware updates IMO, but the whole xbox live experience seems way better and not as rough around the edges as playstation network.
But it does look like the playstation is gaining momentum though.
Could be pretty cool to get in-game video chat.. Like a box in the upper right corner showing the buddy's cam, would be fun while playing..
EDIT: lol, FW 2.40 havent even come out yet and im already starting to whine about new features.. GOOD JOB, ME!!
I'm kinda wondering though... with all the new features and buttons, all the themes currently created for ps3 wont really be of any use afterwards.. And i guess that kinda sucks..

Why was it so badly tested?
Because if you take a look at alot of PS3 users theyre exactly like babies..
And when Sony have 50.000 kids all saying "gief 2.40 now!! PLX" they get frustrated.. So IMO its the users fault. Sure, Sony could have tested their update, but honestly, if we just stopped whining about getting new features all the time, none of this wouldve happened.
