What you fail to understand is that a real gamer should be wondering why those game "floped" while ODST sell like pancakes.
Do you honestly think ODST is that much better than those PS3 exclusives you mentionned? Do you really think each of those games sales reflect their quality?

very impressive, but in a sad way. no offense halo fans. its just the way i feel about this. there are other games which deserve the same praise and attention Halo gets. yet they dont get it. whos to blame? biased reviewers? massive marketing? the gamer in me wonder what the hell is goin on, i cant help it.

books and movies excells in story telling because thats what they are meant to be, the telling of stories. you will eventually identify to a character or relate to a story, but ultimately you are never part of it. there is nothing you can say or think that will change whats going on.
in video games, you're not only told a story, you are a story teller. you incarn the character. you, as a human being, are part of the game. you are the motor of the story.

MGS characters are most badass and touching than 99% of the movie industry for the past 10 years.
technically, a video game is a movie with a controller.
it means you will have to interact with it physically (your fingers) and cerebrally (your brain), in order to actually play.
you are litterally CONNECTED to a game, now wirelessly since this gen.
a movie, you watch it and there is no possible interaction whatsoever.
how are movies more immersive than games again?
1. because HALO is such a powerful franchise commercially speaking that the reviewers (or even the gamers) have no balls to tell their true opinion about it.
2. because ODST fvcks up the whole point of rating games, which is aknowledging the quality of what the gaming industry has to offer.
3. because it's been advertised as a full game but reviewed as an expansion (a "great expansion" doesnt equal a "great game" in my book).

haha yeah, those MGS games man, they are so generic! i've played TONS of games like that before, its nothing special at all! solid snake? just another typical game character! brainlessss! story = you kill the bad guy thats all.

"gold" games and test versions arent reserved for big time websites. developpers are free to send an early copy of their games to anyone they want.

there is this guy who has a blog called damonx.
it's just one guy behind the blog and he writes about stuff he likes, sometimes related to video games, sometimes not. he is eventually reviewing games. you can see on his front page he's got a test version for ODST.
