Assuming a third party game came out as a console exclusive I would not solely buy a console for said game as we've seen in the past these third party console exclusives rarely last long before releasing on other consoles with the later versions sometimes getting additional content for free vs the initial timed exclusive version.
Much better off if you're purely buying consoles for exclusive games buying based on first party games which are unlikely to come to compe...
What a nonsense post.
Gaming must be in a pretty dire place if it is being held back by one console with a small portion of the entire gaming playerbase. The majority of PC gamers are running GPUs with 8GB of VRAM or less and older CPUs so by your flawed logic that would be holding every multiplatform game back.
People need to get a grip on reality, it's not the S's or any other one thing that has resulted in this console generation being relative...
2022 wasn't great either.
For all its faults TLoUP1 on PC at least lets you wait for shaders to compile prior to playing the game.
Just highlights why it is important to develop assets for PC at the same time the timed exclusive console version is in development, outsourcing the PC version after the main development cycle was wrapped rarely goes well.
The Diablo IV beta felt like a refined Diablo III so I won't be buying day one or for full RRP.
Diablo II despite its age is a much more enjoyable game.
It's not last gen holding this tech back but the lack of install base for the PS5/Xbox Series and capable PCs.
Publishers don't want to miss out on huge part of the existing playerbase on lower spec hardware.
The PS5 has only recently just become readily available in many regions, we'll start to see more PS5/Xbox Series/PC only games.
For smaller budget and indie games we'll likely continue to see last gen ports for a fe...
The woke activists that cry the loudest (example TheGamer.com).
I listened to a few clips of the new Ada, voice acting would have suited the classic RE games (that's not a compliment). Maybe the voice recording sessions were affected by COVID and/or other factors.
I'd rather a good Final Fantasy game released exclusively on PS5 as a timed exclusive then a mediocre Final Fantasy game released on multiple platforms simultaneously. Quality control has been very hit and miss at SE for over a decade now.
I expect the eventual PC port of FFXVI to be a half arsed effort and have tech issues and bugs just like almost every other SE PC port.
Given SE's reputation I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to screw M...
Wow what a stinker of a game and I thought Ninety-Nine Nights 1 was bad (one of the worst games I've ever played but it was only $15 so I can't complain too much).
Because Microsoft paid for those games partly or fully and Hironobu Sakaguchi came to dislike Ken Kutaragi because he was arrogant and condescending.
Microsoft probably might not want to do deals with Japanese developers for select titles as they've got a lot of internal studios they have to fund.
I'll wait for the game to be patched and the price to hopefully drop on PC.
It will be interesting to see if they fix the image quality issues on PS5 and control issues on Xbox Series.
Sony's 2013 E3 smackdown of MS's shitty Xbox One DRM plans was the best moment that comes to mind.
Worst moments tied the 2006 $599 PS3 price reveal and 2013 Xbox One reveal debacle.
I don't watch E3 videos any more as far too many games over the years were hyped to hell then massively underdelivered so I prefer to access games post launch then buy.
Just goes to show it's not as easy to code a game for PC and have it be scalable and stable as developing for set hardware in a console.
I'm sure it would have been much better had Nixxes done the port.
Surely this can't be The Masterchief Collection level of bad.
It's very sad to think that a man who fostered such an unhealthy culture at ABK and reduced Blizzard to a shadow of their former self is going to get a huge payout. One of the few positives I see from this deal going through is Kotick being gone, must be pretty miserable for a lot of ABK staff working under Kotick.
And Sony pays developers and publishers for timed or indefinite console exclusives. Same shit, different method with crappy outcomes for consumers in both instances.
The best kind of interest is self interest.
I doubt Kotick is sticking around long post merger, he just wants his big payday as you said so he can move onto other things or retire.
I played quite a bit of SR on Xbox Series X with a friend but eventually we encountered enough bugs we decided to stop playing the game until it was patched, that was ages ago and it doesn't look like he'll ever go back so I guess I'll have to solo it.
I don't think building excessive hype is a good thing.
So many games are overhyped, make outlandish claims then underdeliver.
It's better for developers to focus on creating a great game with a modest advertising budget that doesn't make any outlandish claims and let the game be judged on its merits.
I don't think the governments should be getting involved in trying to force games to be available on all platforms with the same content and features etc but blatant anti-competitive practices should be looked at.
In a perfect world where tech issues weren't a factor and porting was easier a lot of the Xbox 360 Japanese exclusives would have sold a lot better if they'd also released on PS3.
Tales of Vesperia was a good game but releasing it initially as an Xbox360 was a terrible idea for the long term health of the franchise.
