My guess is they might switch tp cartriage. Updates and patches can go on the card to save space. An expandable hdd with non esserial data is an option too

Just to pile on things sony did first. Ps3 unreal tournament 3 supported mods.
Race was fairly close with ps3 and 360, and sony offered cross play while ms refuses. Now that ms is getting crushed they want crossplay. I see no reason why sony would give ms the light of day after that
