I don't get why though SE didn't go for a new dual core chipset rather than 'old' hardware (relatively speaking for the mobile market) that is being forgotten about as I type this as basically all phones being shown at MWC are more powerful.

Well, for a start, Nintendo don't set the 3DS price in the UK, the retailers do.
Sony can't do anything about it, just like Nintendo can't do anything about the NES, SNES and GBA emulators on the market.
They're totally powerless to remove it.

PS Suite's biggest obstacle is that there is already a PS1 emulator on the Android Market and many will just choose to download PS1 ROMs for free and run it via that app.
It'll be how quickly and what kind of other games that aren't PS1 based Sony can get onto the PS Suite that will make or break it.
An HD remastering of it shouldn't be too hard as it was already in HD on PC, just refining the look with maybe some new textures, better AA and AF plus some all-round optimisation would be all that's really needed to it.

And they're far from a speck with regards to handhelds, the rate at which iOS gaming is growing is massive and is showing no signs of slowing.

Yeah I wish now I'd bought them during the Steam sale at Christmas tbh.
