Actually it wouldn't as HD- dvd was out a year before Blu-ray luanched. MS' console would still have luanched in time.Remember hd-dvd was read , Blu-ray was not.

Common sense says that if previously something wa not covered under warrenty and now it is...People who ould have just bought a new 360 can now file a claim to have said 360 repaired. No because they weren't going to be putting money in MS' pockets. They were going to be buying movies. If Ms cared, they would have intergrated the 360 with a hd-dvd drive. 17 million hd-dvd players would make 10 million blu-ray players look kind of frail.
They could drop th eprice of the 360 $100 dollars and out sell sony but I think they are happy tuning a $100 profit on each 360 sold and making a killing on software.
I think this war to sell the most units is in our heads. MS is happy.
Sony is happy selling consoles at a lost because they plan to evenually make it up in software sales when the hardwar becomes dirt cheap....

If the PS2/PS1 problems were so wide spread and so clearly paralleled the current 360 problems, then why couldn't MS recognize them early on to fix them? If MS is capable of making a solid system that is pretty much unbreakable (OG Xbox, sturdy and reliable) then why did they drop the ball this time?
