what makes people think north america is the only market, the 360 might of done better in the U.S but not world wide at this period last year. Also, the ps3 only got holiday sales in north america and japan and not europe. So that right there makes a huge difference sale wise.
everyone should know that the ps3's that are made in japan are quieter since they have a larger fan. the ones made in china are louder since they have a smaller fan, i have one of the chinese one's so my fan goes into second or third gear after 20 minutes. Only time it bothers me is when im watching a movie and its a scene that isnt loud, btw i sit less then or at 5 feet from my tv.
