Miyamoto is like a genius and retard did the fusion dance. The man has shown sheer brilliance but also absolute autism, I'm not sure what to think of him except that someone needs to keep him on a leash and just cherry pick his good ideas and sit him in the corner when he pukes up s*** like "less story and characters in RPGs."
I don't see a problem with a flood of consoles, though. That would spur innovation and price wars. I doubt it will happen just because the big 3 companies want to keep making money on selling systems (sometimes they sell at a loss but they usually eventually make a profit), though.

Consoles will never cease to exist so long as the gaming market is open and streaming is imperfect. Sorry, but consoles will exist for the foreseeable future, but I do think and hope that they will take on a more DVD-like method so we can play all games on one console.
If you're looking for something different then PLAY something DIFFERENT. Don't change what WE want. I've been enjoying turn-based combat for ~20 years as well and I want to KEEP enjoying it. We can play Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy spinoffs or any of the other Square games with this type of combat if we want action RPGs, or even the MANY MANY other non-Square ARPGs.

I completely agree. This hack & slash open world bulls*** it a major turn off but it seems lots of casuals and newcomers are excited, so let them feed on the decaying carcass of this once-legendary series.
What does it do?
Not much difference now that Final Fantasy is a hack & slash action RPG. I imagine it will be far less difficult than Souls, and the tone will be more lighthearted most likely. Otherwise you're good to go.
