I never said it was surprising... They're good, but not among the best as game devs. They cling to an outdated engine, I'm not a fan of Half Life, Left for Dead is decent but not great, Portal is good but overrated, Portal 2 is their best game, Team Fortress 2 is also good but not great. It's all down to personal opinion.
Sure, why not. I paid over $700 for my PS3. Heck, I'd pay $900+ for the PS4, day one. No, I'm not rich, I'm a student, just living in Norway where everything is expensive.

Yeah, I was playing around with Big Picture yesterday. In a way, they've made the Steambox unnecessary by themselves. With Windows in the background, you're getting more supported games too.
No they have their own thing called DualPlay. I have an LG 3D TV with DualPlay, but it doesn't support Simulview. It's basically the same thing, but I can't use simulview in games like Gran Turismo 5.

The problem is that Simulview is only supported on Sony TV's, if they made it available on all 3D TV's it would be a great feature for their consoles.
Saints Row and Darksiders are the ones to watch, I hope they end up with Ubisoft, Square Enix or 2K. EA and Activision can suck it. The most important thing though, is not where the IPs go, but the talent behind them.
