The whole point is that it's difficult.
They may be buggy but they are still better than most of the pieces of garbage being released today. Generally the bugs are fixed and what you're left with is a good game. Plus their expansions are almost always good, once again compared to the trash being released today.
Its not like they are being given a free pass. They simply prove they are worthy of it.
It's a pretty simple formula. The previous games are great with friends.

It's not like it's that terrible of a line. There are probably many adventurer's who have to retire early due to various injuries. It's only considered terrible because it took off as a meme for whatever reason.
Because Metroid Prime is amazing. Just like you prefer the 2D version and don't care about Prime, I love Prime and don't care about the 2D versions.
Though to be honest at this point I just want them to put out a decent game to bring the series back to life.

I agree and so does Totalbiscuit actually. But since it's for people who are so bothered by 30 FPS that it could be a make or break deal for them, he is being purely objective and is planning on pointing out every 30 FPS game on steam regardless of whether it's a big deal or not.

They haven't announced a release date because they aren't dumb and setting a concrete release date that they may or may not meet and have to make the choice of disappointing/angering fans or releasing a game with problems.
Now if only they'd give us the second expansion they mentioned such a long time ago
