That could possibly be because the bulk of the population can't play today's games on their home PC.. Most don't have a good enough rig to play the games at the same level that they can on a home console.

The EA press conference started after Microsoft and before Ubisoft.
Tomorrow, June 2nd, will be Nintendo and Sony's press conference.
As well as the "Day 1" of E3. So, in that sense, E3 doesn't start till tomorrow.
But, MS, EA, and Ubi have already done there coverage..
I believe they did speak on that..
But, I don't remember what the reason was. =/

It's just maps, nothing to big that you can't wait for.
Also, it will prolly only be a few weeks before the PS3 gets them, anyway.
Besides, there should be plenty of maps to hold you down till the new ones arrive..
I don't believe they got FF and MGS to sway customers to purchase there system.
If anything, it's to get a non-system, or x360 only, owner from purchasing a PS3.
But, it could also be just to reward their current fanbase, with another game.

And, it shows a game for all platforms, but, do not come out for all platforms..
The only confirmation I find acceptable would be straight from BioWare..
