You don't stay in business for over a century (Nintendo was founded in the late 1800s selling hanafuda card) and not learn how to continue to make a profit. This isn't the first flub for Nintendo, hell they almost went bankrupt when they invested in love hotels. They're not going anywhere.

Games, it needs games. Seeing as the Wii U is a game console, it needs games to attract and entice people to want to buy it. And of course there is the part of advertising this a bit more and informing the consumer about the system. Hell, there are some people who still don't know Nintendo has a console out. In the end it needs games, why is this so hard to understand. A GAMING console needs games to play on it.
Everything gets hate. Nintendo gets hate, so does Microsoft, and of course Sony. It's called fanboyism and for some reason people feel they need to have an allegiance to one company. Play your games and be happy.
