Every creature has different vulnerabilities to different weapons. If it was too easy, the difficulty was too low.
The overused game design tropes are much worse than the story ones.

Sheeeeiiit. I’m one of the nut jobs that got that achievement for beating the game on the hardest difficulty with only using three saves for the entire run. I hope to play more Dead Space again before I’m old and full of arthritis!

Well it's certainly better then the cod2 days of everyone tossing smoke and bringing the game to a halt, or being killed instantly by a shot in the foot by a sniper rifle. Good times, good times.
