One just has to look at Microsoft's actions over the past couple of years to see that they have given up trying to compete with Sony:
1. They've closed down about 5 first party studios
2. They've let long time Microsoft third party exclusive studios go off to be bought out by big multiplatform publishers, instead of buying them or doing what it takes to retain them as exclusive developers
Wipeout HD is incredible in its 1080p glory. But it is a pretty serious hardcore game.
Uncharted definitely would be a better choice for most gamers. If for some crazy reason not Uncharted:
inFamous, or Ratchet and Clank, or Valkyria Chronicles would be better choices too, IMO.
I love Wipeout HD, but oh man will it teach you a lesson in humility when it comes to your gaming skills. Pure old school hardcore style gaming.
