If there was even a tiny problem with the PS3 firmware the gaming media would have been going batsh_t insane with front page stories non-stop.

Just look back over the 8 year 7 billion dollar Xbox fiasco. They dumped a bunch of very expensive desktop PC parts in a big black box and tied for last place and had to pull the plug on the too expensive to manufacture hardware after racking up some 4 billion or so in losses.
They rushed out new poorly designed console hardware that was built with the cheapest and shoddiest parts to try to avoid racking up billions in losses like the first Xbox ...

There are two distinct groups who are still in denial over how totally the PS3 has destroyed the 360 in graphics this gen:

It is a port of a year old iPhone game.
It got the standard average PSN title support from Sony - a couple posts on the Playstation Blog.
PS3 owners expect more from developers of PSN games. PSN isn't the place to dump ports of old games like other console online stores.

P2P networking means that your game is at the mercy of whatever clown is hosting.
If that clown, or someone else at their house, is downloading porn or mps3 or whatever your game connection gets killed.
Even if whoever is hosting your game isn't blowing their connection with downloads you are still limited to tiny player counts because of the crap residential upstream connections.
