I didn't dismiss the 360, I just don't recommend it. I have owned one, but I sold it to get a Wii and a couple games. I never said it's a bad purchase, ...
If you have electricity in your home: Get a PS3
If you like to play party games and have lots of money: Get a PS3 and a Wii
If you love to play hardcore games and need a constant library of titles: Get a PS3 and upgrade your PC

The arcade edition is an empty shell. It's easy to see from the box that you're pretty much going to HAVE to upgrade at some point, and the second you upgrade even the HD, it's up to $300.

I would just like to mention that while the marketing director stated that backward compatibility won't happen, that doesn't mean it's not going to. Sony denounced the PS3 Slim only months ago, and did the same with the PSP Go.
I hope he is lying, and we'll just have to wait and see how this develops.
I don't want to argue with you, but I will say this:
This is the only time I can remember the update ever being delayed. Who cares? I'd rather spare $400 over the course of a generation and wait 24 hours for 1 update than pay $400.
