It didnt fall flat. It is what it is. People already knew what it was and what it is to the existing family just like the PS4 Pro. Just an upgrade not a new console generation by any stretch.

They don't need to. The PRO is there 4K option and overall PS4 is doing unreal for them. Why kill the momentum? They don't need to react with new hardware just keep the great exclusives coming.

THey have already been quoted as doing so for upcoming games......its common sense they are not going to 'GIMP' the games in favor of brand loyalty....thats why the PS4 always had the 1080p edge when the XB1 couldnt hit it since launch and led to them getting the better versions or else the devs would have made both versions either 900p or 720p when the XB1 couldnt hit 1080p.....some people have memory problems.

Sonys first party studios and their games are unmatched and the reason why even with the X coming out the Pro will more than keep up and actually deliver better looking games imo. It will help but not close the gap in any meaningful way. You can't make up for the power edge in hardware that the X has. No amount of spin will change that just like dx12 and secret sauce didn't make the Xbox one surpass the ps4's power edge. Sony has great looking first party games that maximize their hardware though and that will keep them in front if MS doesn't utilize the power of the X as efficiently as them for their first party offerings.
