yeah the game is linear. Is is restrictive? That is arguable in my opinion. A game with a script will tell the character you are controlling "hey you need to go do this now." While it may sound like you better get to it and on the double you are not going to die (in game) if you wander or lag about. Maybe death with fall on you if you do, but it's pretty rare.

I have been playing the hell out of this game since about 9:30pm pacific time, and just called it quits because I have to work. I really do not understand the reviews of this game at all. this also reminds me of the MAG release. that game was torn to shreds on release day. some were valid points like the music score, and the graphical fidelity but it was fun, in my opinion (which wasn't shared by many reviewers). This is being reviewed in a like manner.
