I think you are referring to the concept of being a "stakeholder". Which is defined as consumer/institution/community that is affected by a companies/businesses operations including and outside of a financial earnings/reporting.
The point you are missing since you clearly did not do stock management is that retails would would not be purchasing more PS3s if they were not selling to end uses (customers) because it cost the retails money of they keep stock longer than what they have decided their turn over period needs to be, so why would they purchase even more PS3 stock if it was not selling to end uses?

it's not a ton of new technology like the PS3 the cost should be much lower if you factor in how mu R&D went into the Cell and Blu-ray. The technology in the NGP or PSP2 is developed by other companies and most of the other tech is not new.
