Wanna reduce piracy? Put media on a new medium. Cubes, crystals, whatever. Just put it on something that people can't copy, and get rid of discs.
Some games/series were never meant to be brought into the 3D world. Sonic is one of them.
RB and GH take themselves too seriously, compared to Wii Music, which is just going to be about having fun and not concerned with being the best rock star out there. You already HAVE your Guitar Hero and your Rock Band, so why would you want something the EXACT same as those? Nintendo saw those games, and thought to themselves two things:
1. Good for them, they made a market for playing games with extra controller-like peripherals.
2. Let's do something similar, but not...
They may have wanted the 360 to get the money from the initial release purchasers, but they seem to really wanna focus on the other systems for the Christmas purchases, which I think will be more than the initial 360 releases back a month ago. Smart business. I respect that.
Spot on. This is what I've been thinking for MANY months now. People are always blasting Reggie, so it's nice to hear him get a jab back at those people.
"The gaming enthusiast that buys a tremendous amount of games is truly insatiable. As an example, in March, we launched Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In April, we launched Mario Kart. In later April, we launched Wii Fit. Then, in July, at E3, they say, 'where are the games?' They say they want the next Mario game. Super Mario ...
Hardcore gamers are at a crossroads these days. They either need to change with the times, or die out. Now, changing doesn't mean abandoning their precious first person shooters all together. No, it simply means accepting that casual gaming is here and it's not going anywhere.
You can still get your quality hardcore games on the PS3 and the 360, those markets aren't going anywhere. But what Nintendo has done is open the gates up to let MORE people play games they wouldn't hav...
Good for you 360 people, you'll be getting the chance to own a great Nintendo game. This video makes me wanna go downstairs and play BK on my N64. I think I just might.
Best article ever. It said everything I've ever wanted to say about my fellow Nintendo gamers who 'just don't get it'.
I say we abandon the disc-based system all together and finally switch over to crystals and cubes. Discs are SO 90s, just like tapes were SO 80s and 8-tracks were SO 70s.
Is there any difference in the game between consoles (besides having a different controller)?
If they DO announce theses games at the press conference, they won't be in stores until very late 2009 or even 2010, which would THEN prompt people to complain "WTF why do we have to wait so long for these titles" instead of "where the hell are all the good games", it's one complaint traded for another.
I would much rather just have them quietly working on them, not getting people hyped up beyond belief about them, and then release info about them when they ar...
We can expect them to talk about Animal Crossing, GTA DS and pretty much everything else they talked about at E3, and maybe throw in some talk about the upcoming important 3rd party titles (Conduit, Madworld, Cursed Mountain).
In the article he's quoted as saying "After they've played a Wii and played some of the games, some of those consumers might try something else." Well the exact same thing could be said for the PS3. Some people get bored of playing what is essentially the same games from PS1 and PS2 on what is essentially the same controllers from PS1 and PS2. Sometimes people just need something different from what they have, it's human nature. Which is why both Nintendo and Sony (and Microsoft...
Third party support is definitely getting stronger, and this is the time when it's supposed to have been.
People, remember way back in mid-2006 when most of the 3rd party developers dismissed the Wii and thought it wouldn't sell, so they focused on making good games for just the 360 and PS3? Yeah well they got kicked in the pants when they saw that Wii was selling like hotcakes, and they had nothing good to give to this massively-selling system.
This is why up until...
Nintendo is lucky this game is coming out just before Christmas, because if it was any other time of the year, I don't think people would buy a Nintendo game for $70. You have to be either a very hardcore gamer or an idiot to buy a simple game that expensive in this day and age.
Unless the game will somehow be able to please you sexually, you're getting ripped off.
I agree, AWBrawler. Graphics can only get SO good before they reach a plateau, and that time is very near, at least with the 360 and PS3. Where will they have to go after they reach their ultra realistic graphics? They won't be able to play the Graphics Card, so to speak.
No big surprises this week. GTA, Madden, Wii Fit and MGS are still selling great. Odd to see Halo 3 creep its way back up though. That's kinda random.
You don't really need a good ranking system to make multiplayer addicting though. Mario Kart Wii's ranking system doesn't fit the game at all, but it's still plenty addicting. As long as the experience online is fun, it'll be considered good.
I can't wait for this game. This, and The Conduit are going to be two of the biggest reasons to have a Wii in 2009. This year was the Mario-friendly Smash and Mario Kart games, but next year it'll be about the 3rd parties finally putting out quality software for the Wii, something we have scarcely seen in these past 20 months.
Doesn't really bother me. I own working copies of Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo Tooie and Goldeneye. Played em all last week actually, brushed off the old N64. Fun games.
