i was also disappointed to hear they buckled under the pressure. if anything controversy helps games succeed. as far as i know GTA has never had a problem selling.
it could easily be some kind of halo product in the first half of 2011, too soon to tell either way. halo wars mentioned above is a good point, and MS definitely isn't above milking their key franchise. on the other hand, gears was probably delayed because the new 343 halo is behind schedule.

making a game just for the sake of making it isn't generally the best foundation to work from.
i played AC2 on PS3 and had no problems with it, the preformance differences people go on about are 99% flamebait.
