Pikmin 3 was also meant to release on the original Wii then got delayed and pushed to Wii U so we still haven't seen a game yet from Nintendo that has been built from the ground up for Wii U.

The reason Nintendo didn't agree with sony to make the snes disc based was because sony were demanding full profit from the games that were sold on a disc. Therefore Nintendo would really only be making money from the hardware and not the software. This is also why NIntendo stuck with cartridges for the N64.
I'm one of those people, the last pokemon I played was gold/silver :)
