This doesn't hinder Xbox future or success. MS is on taking 25,000 employees from Nokia with a new CEO. The company is simply reorganizing the company.
Also MS doesn't have a "habit" of saying one thing and doing another.

MS at heart is a software company and their main goal is to make sure all their software is on as many platforms as possible as evidence of Office getting a dedicated iPad version.
Mobile is the future of technology. From phones, tablets, wearables, car, new fanless laptops and 2 in 1s. MS wants to be in the forefront of the consumer market for these markets.
Console gamers want all this power yet aren't willing to pay for it. If these consoles were $599 the sales would be dismal.
MS isn't in a shit storm. They are doing quite well as a company. If you are only talking about gaming then it hasn't even been a year yet and 2015 seems to be a golden year.
