That was a good demostration of what kinect does.. ie. motion capture without the actors needing special suits with markers on them..
this is good for making a movie.. ie. using the data to create animation. For gaming? not so sure - this generation anyway..
it can only get better :)
that was real life 2008, imagine real life 2010 :)
Pepsi is what you buy when there is no Coke.. like at KFC..
i have seen auto stereo displays. they are very limited and 3d quality is not great, even at the optimum viewpoint.
imagine listening to the audio of dora and the world cup coming from the same screen..
Currently, unlike a blu-ray 3d, stereoscopic 3D broadcasting uses the same bandwidth as 2D. This allows broadcasters to use the same infrastructure.
If you watch a 3D broadcast on a regular TV, you will see the frame split into 2 (left and right). This is the left and right eye. A 3DTV can split the frame and scale it to full-res and then combine into 3D. (that's right, you lose half the horizontal resolution! 3DTVs can handle this, as well as top/bottom split and line b...
The audience seemed genuinely excited. They were good, fun, competitive party games. Kind of like when you get a wii balance party game for a party.. good casual entertainment.
It would be good to see a game that could not be done on another system though. That rafting game could be done using Move. ie. just a single camera tracking leaning left/right and jumping..
personally, i prefer games that use wrist, fingers and opposable thumb..
even in the supposed sweet spot (something like directly in front, 4m back), the 3D was not good across the entire screen. it definitely was not watchable from other viewing angles. (3d effect sort goes in and out as you move sideways). I was thinking a camera could track you to align the 3d, but there is still the issue of multiple viewers at multiple viewing angles.
It will improve, but glasses are fine and a lot better. I wear glasses normally so I guess I'm biased :) ...
How many more TVs has Sony sold than Samsung?
Samsung have been marketing their 3DTV heavily. However, get a 3D Bravia and receive the codes that enable free download of the 3D game versions!
I recommend a large screen ;)
ah yeah, that had aftertouch :) showing my age, but my friends and I played this is on the amiga a lot. this was pre quake, duke nukem, rott.
i wonder if the head movement animation matches the playstation eye head tracking data. it wouldn't surprise me actually....
PAL and NTSC are SD formats.
HD and 3D formats can have higher framerates. But yes, it begs the question, how long is 1 frame? how long is a piece of string?
was that footage from the psp version? :)
@dirthurts
nice use of a buzz term after reading about DX11 :)
they might be trying to beat the GT5 release :)
that was impressive! ps3 quality ;)
very informative and interesting..
it's a shame some people haven't even been able to grasp HDTV 2D concepts :)
Halo killer! :)
yeah, the ps3 version should be cheaper, you are getting a lot less frames per second.. :)
hopefully it's been updated for kinect support!
