I agree it just a gimmick...at least in the beginning though. I think when a new technology comes out and the electronic manufactures can't make it affordable; They somehow still manage to come out with it anyway but the drawback is...it done half-ass and they incorporate the new technology with the old. And then later down the line when the technology becomes affordable they release the real deal.
just like the LCD technology...they started out with 1080i and then 1080p...

This aggressive behavior from Microsoft is nothing new. Even back when Microsoft was penalize(monopoly) by the Government for being too aggressive yet bringing the PC markets to its Knees. So I m not surprised by the fact that Microsoft is forcing this Kinect BS motion control crap on to us gamers.
To me, I personally don't like the Kinect but I think its going to be the driving force leading up to virtual reality.

I feel your pain..but this is the reality that every company has to face when bringing out a new technology to the market. The Kinect is just the beginning...who knows, maybe, a few version down the line, Microsoft will probably release a patch or come out with a new improve updated version.

Piracy is a bad and good thing altogether simply because you get to try it before you buy it...especially if there no DEMO out.
And of course majority of the Games out there that's being pirated has no Fun factor if one can't play it online.And so, for some, they'll just end up buying the game just to play it online.

IF AMD could deliver graphics on par with Avatar it still wouldn't work if Microsoft uses any of the current optical technology(BLU RAY/HD DVD/DVD) Having said that, I believe the only optical technology that I think even capable of keeping up with the rest of the Hardware component(RAM/CPU/GPU) would be the Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD). Notice I said I wasn't including all of the Winky-Dinks games I've seen on the PC. There's only about 40-50 hardcore games worth collecting on a PC. Beside, most of the Good games on a PC are only DOOM style 1st person shooters anyways. HOW boring is THAT!!!
AMD claims that the Next Xbox console is going to have graphic on par with James Cameron's Avatar....I DON"T THINK SO!!!
To achieve that levels of graphics means AMD would have to PACK a lot of HORSE POWER on the GPU; which could be extremely expensive.
On the GAME DEVELOPER side they would re-frame using compressed texture MAPS,graphical tricks, and any other graphical cheating methods to achieve the same level of Graphics on Par with AVATAR.
