The whole 'free' not being free thing applies to both Xbox and PS3 in my opinion.
For PS+, you pay for the service but get free games from doing so. This wouldn't strictly be considered free.
Same goes for these so called 'free to play' games. You have to pay for gold before you can play for free.
Just as an opinion, I wouldn't necessarily either free because you have to give something to receive something.

Think about it this way, you know in CoD how as you use a gun you unlock stuff for it? Well you could have some bad 10th prestige player using a red dot sight and whatever else versing a better player with no attachments. Even though the bad player has a red dot thing, he won't be able to aim. The better player on the other hand can aim better, but is just hindered by the iron sights.
I wouldn't call it an "advantage". All they will have is a higher rank, and rank =/= skill.

Not in NZ,they come in 1500,3000 and 4000.
For me, that wasn't the issue. Lets say I buy 1500 MS points.So I want to buy some DLC which on average costs 800 MS points. So If I buy one, I'll have 700 MS points left, which is just short of buying another piece of DLC.
That's the only problem I see with it to be honest.
