That's a 1 year difference between release. It's obvious Microsoft knew about the PS4 Pro before it was officially announced. I mean, I KNEW ABOUT IT.
Yup. Why else announce a product that is nowhere near final specs? They wanted to one-up Sony's announcement of the PS4 Pro. It's pretty obvious when you see Albert Penello at those other Microsofts spokesmen bashing the PS4 Pro left and right. Their agenda here is pretty obvious.

That's the issue here. The perceived value of the Xbox One is so low that people aren't willing to pay full price. There's always a huge sale or free game promotion around the corner.
Xbox brand is great, but it is no Playstation. I think that's the publics perception of the brand.
The only way to overcome this is to undercut the competition in terms of price.
A low price can go a long way in overcoming a bad public image.
