Please read it again, he says "We haven't developed general purpose code that would now work for EVERY PS2 title out there"
That means there is a software emulator but it does not work PERFECTLY with EVERY PS2 game but with optimization it can work with specific games such as in this case: God of War I and II
He even says "this is not [a] port"
I was in the 9th row at the Sony Press Conference. He said "exclusively on the the PS3". End of story. Greenberg is in denial. What happens down the line, we will only know when we see, but this is what was said.
Dude Gametrailers didn't make this. They just swiped it off the PSN "Killzone 2 Behind the Bullet" application that was released yesterday. I'm surprised they're trying to pass this off as their own work.

Actually you guys are misinformed:
The insomniac guy replies:
No. As I said before - our patch does not require 2.7.
Right… but the required update from Sony WAS NOT 2.7, and we’ve already had it as we’ve been testing it — as many others in this thread have said.
This is clearly stated in one of his replies to the original post.
So maybe Xi means XMB v2 (kinda like an improvement on X so it becomes Xi)
Probably something with home more integrated with the PS3 XMB.
to be honest...I've listen to them before and they barely buy/play any games. Half the show is them giving their opinion on the Playstation Store weekly updates. I think they haven't played any of the big PS3 games like Resistance, Little Big Planet, MGS4, etc
It's like they're too cheap to buy games LOL
My favorite Podcast is Playstation Nation wayy better than IGN's Podcast Beyond.
WTH, I thought the PSN sucked and was the slowest cuz it's a free service?!? Isn't this why Microsoft charges money for membership?
Haha!!
Yeah seriously...most underrated game of 2008!!
You guys keep acting that backwards compatibility via software is so easy to do. Keep in mind that in the newer 80GBs that have partial emulation many games did not work at first. As many as 50% back in April 2007 and it took a huge effort to patch many games over the next year. You guys take for granted how hard it is to create an emulator especially for a system as complex as the PS2.
So by default PS3 had the best exclusive game of the year nominees 3 versus 1.
so check it out for PS3:
1) Metal Gear Solid 4
2) Fallout 3
3) Grand Theft 4
4) Little Big Planet
5) Resistance 2
#2 thru #5 are in no particular order except alphabetical
for Xbox 360:
1) Fallout 3 (also on PS3)
2) Deadspace (also on PS3)
3) Gears of war 2 (only on 360)
4) Grand Theft auto (also on PS3)
5) Price of Persia( ...
The Wipido videos aren't working for me!!!
It says "video does not exist" for all of them
I love the fact that everytime there is an update you redownload the whole firmware and install it. It is not just a patch. This insures that none of your older firmware gets corrupted and you get a fresh install everytime. It takes longer to download and install but it is WAYY better than patching. Patching slowly bogs down the OS and you get worse performance. Just imagine how much slower XP or Vista are after all the patches versus just a clean install.
Dude you're probably the only person in the world that has a platinum in Wipeout HD. Kudos to you but the general consensus amongst us mortals is that Wipeout HD is EXTREMELY difficult...
Hey guys,
I am almost done with all the races in Wipeout HD. I just have six more "time trial" races that I need to get GOLD medals on. Most of you that play Wipeout know that time trials did not have difficulty settings and you could only change "difficulty" on races against the A.I. So if I download this patch, what happens to all my "time trial" gold medals? Will it say I beat them on "easy" because if it doesn't I do not want this patch ...
PSN version may have larger install size = slightly less compressed character models. Plus you get it ONE day earlier for the Capcom Store on PSN LOL!!
That's why I want people to enjoy this article. Because it has "industry-level" detail/knowledge. This article is meant for people in the video-game industry to read. This isn't your typical IGN or Gamepro interview so I think it's very valuable.
Comparing the first two hours of Gears 2 means the entire campaign, lol
Think about it do you really think Sony has the time to go back and completely "port" and remake TWO God of War games for the PS3 and release it for only $39.99
And on top of that they are not even done with God of War III?
Plus if this was a "true" port they would have announced it way sooner like at E3, Gamescom, etc
This is GREAT news regardless.
