It doesnt work like that. If some aspect of the current gen version isnt compatible when applied to the older gen, theyre going to have to gimp it in order for parity between the two versions.
Old gen does hold back aspects of current gen games, regardless of different developers.

Gearbox didnt want to prematurely announce it I figure. They wouldve waited till theyre well underway to show off content to its fans. 2K merely said it exists and is in development.

Gearbox havent confirmed it. Theyve only said they plan it in the future. 2K acknowledges it exists and is probably in pre-production stages.
