You buy the physical copy because the online shop prices are astronomical. Every release day there is a minimum of $20 to be saved on Xbox/PlayStation games by buying the physical copy instead, and $15 minimum for anything on Switch.
It's just ridiculous why this is the case, but I'd rather the extra $$ to spend on something else thanks

Sony pays money to get exclusive stuff, they probably had other offers out there but MS didn't decide to get their own exclusives or match what Sony was offering. There's nothing to whinge about other than if you are playing on a MS machine that they didn't bother to buy any exclusives and put money elsewhere.
