I always roll my eyes when any of these sites say something is unoriginal, but turn around and give nothing but praise to something so in your face unoriginal. Their inconsistency make it hard for me to trust their opinions anymore.
They've been for years as bad and often worse. Those two go hand and hand really. I think you could say the same of those who complain about Soulsborne. I think most just get defensive because it's always an attack in hard coming from these sites and never about how a harder difficulty is integral to the overall experience of a game. I will always say though that difficulty options in the majority of games are horribly balanced out
